Okay, I need to say this. When I went to the theatre yesterday, a good half of the audience was composed by children. Most of them looked like they were somewhere between four and six years old, and they were all happy because they were going to watch dinosaurs on the big screen. But I want you to know that THIS IS NOT A MOVIE SUITED FOR LITTLE CHILDREN.

Especially during the second half, there was a particularly strong scene involving the little girl and one of the dinosaurs. It was nothing graphic (as were a lot of other scenes oh my god no baby deserves to see those things), but it had a lot of suspence and was honestly creepy. Now, I’m a grown up gal, I can go to sleep peacefully after watching something like this. But the kid two rows ahead of me, the poor baby who started sobbing uncontrollably and kept repeating that he was afraid? I don’t fucking think so, and it pisses me off.

I don’t want to walk into a room just to find children screaming in terror because their parents didn’t gather enough information on the movie they were about to watch, and that’s exactly what happened yesterday. NO KID DESERVES TO BE SCARED SHITLESS LIKE THE ONES I SAW YESTERDAY.

So please, parents, if you want to watch Fallen Kingdom because your little ones asked you to, please tell them no. If you want to watch Fallen Kingdom because you’re a fan, please hire a babysitter for two hours. And please, pass it on.

the OP of the screenshotted tweet is on tumblr, and an author too, having put out Chameleon Moon and related stories.

I’m really relieved that both RoAnna and Heather’s books are linked on this post because if their tweets were going to be circulating around Tumblr with no way to indicate that Heather’s written a three-book (so far) fantasy series about magical lesbians and bi women in early 19th century Central Europe and RoAnna writes hopeful superhero dystopians that feature the only f/f/f triad MC’s I can think of in any book, that would have been hecking unfair.

@affablyevil, I hope that helps, but if you want more books, here’s a list I made a while ago of ten SFF f/f’s where they don’t die, and I am continually reading more and recommending more. (Have you heard of Flowers of Luna? College f/f set at fashion design college on the moon.)

it was originally worn by george michael in the music video for wake me up before you go go, back in 1984. at the height of the aids crisis.

even before he came out as gay himself, he was a big proponent for gay rights and awareness of the aids crisis. not to mention the shirt was designed by katharine hammett, a designer known for her leftist political statements in her works. here’s a relevant snippet from her wikipedia page.

Hamnett has spoken out several times against the slogan’s use by prolife activists in the U.S. She wrote on her website, “It’s not about the anti-abortion lobby. The US anti-abortion lobby attempted to appropriate CHOOSE LIFE. We are taking it back and promoting its real meaning. Ours is authentic and I believe in a woman’s right to choose.”

so yeah, its not a pro life shirt, and the meaning has become heavily misconstrued over the years.
